What About You Affects Your Insurance Rate?

Obviously we know that your car insurance rate can be impacted by your driving record.  The more tickets you have, or accidents caused, will cause your rates to increase.

However, there are some factors that are beyond your control that will change how much you pay for car insurance.  It may seem unfair, but that is just how it is.

Men are charged more than woman.  Statistics show that with age constant, men get into more accidents.  Even if you have a perfect driving record, the fact that you are a man will likely cause you to pay more.  Younger men pay the highest rates.  Statistics again show that teenagers and men in their early 20’s cause the most accidents, whether it is a lack of experience, or a lack of judgment.

Where you live also matters.  Some cities have higher rates because more accidents are caused in those cities.  Urban areas generally have higher rates because more traffic leads to more accidents.  Rural areas will have lower rates.  Some areas are more than double other areas just because of this factor.
