Running

Running has been a common form of sport since the beginning of history, and even before.

Running is a simple exercise, which can be performed by every healthy individual, and is one of the basic activities of the human body.

History of Running

Since the time of the Greek, there is record of running competitions and training, such as the marathon. As a crucial skill for soldiers, hunters and other professions relying on mobility, its value was especially great. The Olympics games included running competitions from their start, and with the renewal of the games, the 100m sprint was added.

Benefits

Health benefits depend on the type of exercise. Sprint run is an anaerobic exercise, while a marathon run is aerobic.
Best results are achieved when coupled with other forms of training, as running mainly trains the legs, and the aerobic system.
Overstraining can be dangerous, as it puts load on the heart. Running on pedestrian sidewalks can be dangerous as well, and damaging to the knees.
A jogging run can precede weights training, or sprint runs, to warm up. Light running, or jogging, can be performed at virtually any age, where physical exercise is still practical.
It doesn't require any special knowledge, and the only suggested equipment is good running shoes, to protect the feet and the knees.
